Where to post? Please help What’s the best forum for this?
lt1 v8 5.7 lt 1995 Buick Roadmaster. New cam, replacing racing cam that the cylinder head specialist said most likely shredded the valve seals.... so I have new valve seals now... heads are good... new distributor cover, new spark plugs .05 gap, told lifters were still good and cylinders were to spec a year ago. (Doubting them lifters)... seemed a bit sticky to the rods so I did a motor flush and carb cleaner per a video I saw that seemed to have the same problem.... the ding/ bang that is in the rear of the engine which the internet says is I un-exploded fuel igniting in the exhaust... which if I run it longer seems to travel further down the exhaust... put put.put... pop...

The cam didn’t shred your seals, if the seals got smashed up it’s because whoever assembled the heads didn’t bother to check retainer to guide clearance. That needed to be done with whatever new cam you installed as well. Depending on how much lift it has you may need a new set of springs, retainers and locks to achieve the clearance you need and maintain proper spring pressure.
