Yeah "my" opinion is i would use a local shop after vetting them vs shipping unless there was none within a hundred miles of me. Dan (op) lives in atlanta so i would think there is a good shop near him. If not than no problem you or me or anyone else suggesting a place (which i did only by owners name) where shipping is involved. I mention a guys name who has a good rep on another forum but didn't mention his shop by name as mr moderator gets his panties in a wad if anyone mentions "non sponsor" services. Dan likely knew who i was referring to.

Fwiw my heads were done "locally", i have purchased valve train stuff from lloyd. Yes i bought a shortblock from golen vs having a local shop source a donor block and build it. Chad has, imho, more experience with the gen 2 lt1 than any shop i have used here in so cal. I know how to build sbc and felt fine having it built out of state and completing the assembly of the long block myself. Building transmissions is not in my wheelhouse so i use local vs shipping

in any event don't want to get into any pissing contest with you or anyone else...not sure why you feel you need to pick out on what someone's else's opinion is. You been on this forum awhile and post frequently and can offer some good advice but dude back off...

Fortunately dan has been around the block with these lt1 cars and can read through any nonsense and form his own opinion based on any responses made to his ?. No need to whine about what others reply to if it isn't the shop "you" prefer...just answer the op's ? And let others reply with their opinions
amen.

No need to be all dramatic. Just wondering why you are good with outsourcing work for certain components and wanting stay local for others. The shops listed have been proven performers over the years.

No drama on my end Sir...its all you. You seem to be the opinion troll about anyone's post suggesting anything different than your opinion

You remind me of Caprice Mgr who used to be on this forum...

Dan lives in Tucker GA. Not seeing any of the suggested sources in GA other than RPM has "installers" in Ball Grand or Cummings GA.

I think Shane is Performance and if so I have read several post about that shops excellent reviews. I suspect since that post says he has a B body that is his shop

I always prefer to go local on auto repairs I don't do myself unless I feel "out of state" sources are better. Golen, for example, for my short block

OP,
If you really want to dig into this for the most piece of mind, get references from shops listed here as well as local shops around you. Ask around at your local drag strip.

4l60 is a 4l60 whether it’s ls1 or lt1. Out it to you like this, if us ls1 guys didn’t answer, there’s so few lt1 guys left that all you might get is crickets chirping.

i always recommend Frank Cahall. he has proven 4L60Es out there. i never got to own one myself but i have very good experience with them. first hand.

however, unfortunately, he passed away yesterday. his wife will keep the company going and use his recipes to keep pumping them out.

Oh no. RIP Frank. He was a real nice guy, ran into him 2 years ago when we were both getting our Vettes dyno tuned at the same shop.

We just need to talk about how LT1 hot cams are the best and how LS1s are not that much better than LT1s

Dan...…..PM me if you still need those options. They all are outside of the Atlanta area, though....

For years it's been frowned upon suggesting shops who aren't a sponsor.
