Default Engine swap finishing touch suggestions

Hello, I have a 1997 z28 that I just dropped the kmember on and swapped for an engine with about 60k less miles on it (went from 160k to 100k) any suggestions of things that I must do before I turn the key to fire this thing up for the first time? The engine I bought runs great and had no coolant in the oil, it was out of a car that had severe rear end damage. It had all original sparkplugs and wires that I swapped out, drained coolant out of the block, changed oil pan gasket, intake manifold gasket, exhaust gaskets, fresh oil and filter.figure I would do all this while it was all out of the car. Some advice would be appreciated, this is my first time switching an engine. Thanks!

would be a good idea to pull the injector fuse and coil wire and crank until you have oil pressure. If good connect and fire it up

Usually a good idea to prime the oil if its been sitting. Otherwise You could unplug the injectors and crank it till you get oil pressure. I have had engines that took a big hit actually spin a cam bearing which blocked oil flow so I would make sure you get some oil pressure to the lifters after 30 seconds of run time. Otherwise fire it up.

Thanks for the idea to prime the oil, I will definitely do that, any ideas for the transmission? I'll be changing the pan gasket on that before I fire this up also, is that just a fill with fluid and go?

if you are just doing a pan drop, filter replace, new gasket and pan install than just adding the = amount of fluid drained you will be fine. Once the motor runs and drive enough to get the trans up to full operating temp check fluid level and add if needed

Is the engine just on the k-member now or back into the engine bay? Be a real good idea to change out the rear main seal and all front seals off the timing cover. What condition is the heater core hose in (hoses that run along the inner passenger fender)? It'd be a whole lot easier to change them out with the engine out of the way. Also, it'd be a better idea to take the manifold off, get a priming tool and prime the engine that way. If it's in the car, rent a right angle drill to do so. Cover the oil valley so you don't get anything from the drill into the engine. My .02...
