Cam bearings installed wrong
I could be wrong but that's what i recall from when I rebuilt my top end.
"How to Rebuild Small Block Chevy LT1/LT4 Engines"
#1 - holes at 10 and 2 o'clock
#2 - hole at 2-3 o'clock
#3 - hole at 2-3 o'clock
#4 - hole at 2-3 o'clock
#5 - hole at 2-3 o'clock
That book is well worth the money if you are rebuilding a GEN II LT1.
It also says you don't want the hole in the bearing to line up with the block oil passage hole, because it might cause a momentary pressure feed-back that can prevent oil from traveling around the journal (the LT1 has full circumference grooves around the journal for oil flow to the bearing oiling hole and to the mains). They note that this also makes bearing position a little less critical.
Previous SBC blocks that did not have the full circle oil groove needed to have the oil holes aligned.
But for peace of mind i would get them re positioned if possible. But if you didn't chances are the motor would still live.
