A/C compressor Just ordered a replacement. Use to using a machine (we had at Goodyear & tires plus) that does evac/recharge/oil all at once but what’s some of you’re guys diy at home ac steps like? This is work I try to be more meticulous about. Especially no longer with a super machine.
When my compressor went bad a couple years ago, I took it to a shop to have the old refrigerant evacuated, although there was almost none left. I replaced the compressor, evaporator, dryer, and expansion valve. I bought a cheapo vacuum pump and gauge kit to remove the air and to recharge. So far so good.
All I can say is if you get a compressor claiming it already has oil in it, dump it out and put in your own. There's no telling what condition the oil is in. Especially if it came from CHI-NA!
