Undertray delete?

I got a 97 Firebird lt1 and I got to looking around and noticed there’s not much air tht can really be going into the air filter, yes I have a cold air intake and bigger throttle body but has anyone took the under tray off and left the air filter exposed to let more air in or Wht??

People have rigged ram airs through the fender. I think at one time there was some aftermarket gadget available. Problem is it then becomes a catchall for debris and water from rain and road spray. If you want more air other than a CAI the best thing is a LS1 ram air. Caveat with that is you would need a cowl induction hood in order for it to close.
