Default exhaust

i am going to be installing hooker longtubes and i already have a 3" coustom y pipe made for them. instead of running 3" piping all the way back to stock muffler location, would i be able to have my headers then y pipe, then 3" piping to a round muffler then turn down ending before the rear axle?(the piping would be in the stock location) is that at all possable and would it be worth it or should i sell my y pipe and go for duels?
thanks
matt

I'd keep the Y-Pipe and buy a GMMG catback. I believe you'll have ground clearance issues sticking a muffler onto the y-pipe.

you can easily run the setup you are asking about. I have seen the headers/y-pipe/borla XR1 muffler setup before in which case it was all infront of the rear axle. You can do it with other mufflers/header setups, your choice, so yes, it can be done, and there are no real drawbacks or benifits to it.

id think with it dumping out like that youd have lots of resonance in the car. im only speaking from experience with old school dumps on a thirdgen. honestly havent heard it inside on a fourth gen.

True duals w/12 inch bullet mufflers. Sounds nice...

I did what your wanting to do but with shorty headers and an 18" bullet. It sounded awesome, only drawback was having one dump hang down looked wierd.
