To avoid additional problems, you might want to get clarity on where you are with flexplate and starter. Sounds like you got a rotating kit with a 168 tooth FP instead of 153. That's not necessarily a problem as long as it's drilled with mounting holes for both size torque converter options and you have a matching starter. Both flexplate/ flywheel size & tooth count options have specific requirements for a matching starter:

UPDATE!!!
The opti spark
It was installed wrong. I wasn't paying attention when I installed it and it didn't click all the way into place.

As far as the starter and flywheel match up, it is definitely a must to use original bolts for they are designed to eliminate any shifting ortwusting of the starter.. Works fine now that I purchased new bolts .

Unfortunately I now have a new problem. After I get everything put back together. I went to start it... it fired up almost instantly. There is a terrible knock coming from engine.. i thought perhaps a bent valve.. so I did a compression test and all cylinders have 150+ psi. Bent push rod maybe?

I'm cringing right now because you did say the engine stopped turning when you tried to use a starting fluid to start. Easiest way to find out what's going on is to get a leak down. You could do a compression test, but that will only tell you there is a problem. A leak down will tell you where you are losing compression.
