Default SE Long Tube Header Install

So I finally got my car in the shop to get the LT's installed. I got a call that the SE headers that I ordered over a year ago don't fit. Something about the flange is 1/4 short. So I over night some summit brand pacesetter knockoffs, non stainless. Those worked apparently, and lined up with the SE ory pipe. Has anyone else had this problem? Sucks to spend that cash on parts and install and have to put carbon steel headers on in the end.

It's always a good idea to find a shop who will custom build a y-pipe to avoid this. It may be a little more expensive, but then you'll know that everything lines up, the exhaust is straight and not banging on anything, and if there is, you can always take it back and have them tweak on it.

I installed those headers on my 97 3 years ago.
Same issue. But easily fixed with a welder or even a piece of pipe and 2 extra clamps.
a competent show that does exhaust should be able to fix for 50 bucks at the most vs ordering new headers.

If I understood correctly the y pipe wasn't the problem. It was the headers themselves. I think this summer I may try to install myself and get the carbon steel ones off.

It was cheaper to get a y-pipe built than to buy one from the local exhaust guy here on my 97.

My true duals were more expensive but not as much as a y-pipe + (expensive) catback

I've installed several sets of their headers with no issues. But I agree any competent exhaust shop should easily be able to overcome that. It's frustrating how many shops don't have skill to do anything above basic installation of parts.

I just put these on my ‘95 a few weeks ago. I put in a new motor mount on passenger side since the old one was bad but driver I left stock (and sagging a little). Primaries needed clearance at the steering knuckle in two spots and on the passenger side at the top of the metal part of the motor mount. I also clearanced the top of the driver side motor mount at the back and had to hammer the bottom of the passenger floorboard a little bit. Needless to say it was a pain in the *** after installing, pulling to dent/clearance and reinstall. Ended up doing it 3 different times on both sides. Having a lift helped big time. Tough to complain when they’re super cheap stainless headers. I used a Pacesetter y-pipe and it worked fine.
