Default LT1 rear cylinder cooling issues ?

I decided to make an account after not finding any information on this subject. As I was talking with my neighbor, he mentioned about the Lt1 having issues with cooling the two rear cylinders. I attempted to find a solution or work around to get more cooling to the rear cylinders but I could only find articles talking about reverse flow cooling. Would any one have an idea why exactly this is ? Does any one have a fix for this ? Id guess it would be something to do with hot air pockets forming as the coolant works its way through, but then why isnt it an issue for every cylinder ?

The factory setup connects the back of the heads with a steam line, and a return to the radiator neck. This works quite well. If it's replaced with hose and brass fittings somewhere in its life, the engine may produce hot spots at the back corners (defeats the design function that needs some level of restriction that the banjo bolt/ narrow steam line provide).

All that being said, unless there's a lot of scale built up in the line and banjo bolts/ cooling system in general, it shouldn't be a problem. Don't believe the hype...

Its a SBC, rear cylinders get lousy air flow and lousy cooling.

LT1 what? f-body or other? F-body could be due to half the engine being under the cowl. I've never read of any issues with cooling of just those two cylinders at least on a LT1. Is this affecting anything for you? If not, just leave well enough alone.

Thanks for the input, I guess this possible misconception is like what Shownomercy is saying. Because the lt1 bottom end is pretty much just an SBC. I just didn’t know if it should be a problem I should be aware of.

I've observed an approximate 15 degree difference front to rear on mine by moving the temp sensor from one head to the other. Just because it's a thing doesn't mean it's a problem. They still run forever.
