Kooks stainless clones

Kooks stainless clones I’m in the process of installing a speed engineering dual over axle setup on my 96….I currently have a set of pacesetter coated long tubes that I’m pulling because well the are rusted and fugly…I ordered the SE stainless longs that appear to be clones of the pacesetters I have now…now these will need a good amount of fanning to be done for the LS style y/x pipe to hook up to…research I’ve done states that the kooks collectors are kicked out more like LS style and will work with little to no mods to the exhaust system plus they are stepped 1 3/4 - 1 7/8 which might not be a huge improve if any but why not…now I believe the LPP and xs power were stainless clones of the kooks stepped design but at least the LPP I can’t find anymore…plenty of eBay ones out there but not certain on which are Kook design and which are pacesetters….anyone have a good lead on stepped stainless headers that copy Kooks out there?

Just to clarify, you're installing the Speed Engineering true dual setup for LS1, on your 96? I actually just finished this install on mine last week, and I have the SE long tubes which have a 3" collector. The driver side collector pipe doesn't work, angle is way off. Passenger side fits just fine. I just made a new driver side collector pipe using a stainless 90 degree bend, going into the x pipe and a short section of 3" id pipe at the collector. Other than that I just had to change a few brackets at the mufflers and it all bolted up. It's much easier to just make a new driver side collector pipe and no header modifications needed if using the SE headers. I can't speak for other brand headers.

Well my mind was pretty much set and all with with the stepped headers and after weeks of not being able to get the xs-power/LPP style I broke down and called Kooks but they don’t do the stepped anymore and non stepped are 8wks out …well I ended up ordering the OBX brand one and I hope those will do the job ..then I’ll just recoupe what I can outta the pacesetters I pulled,the speed engineering headers I bought and the ypipe/borla catback
