Golden Engine Performance, any good ? I am really liking how this company is looking, and I appreciate how they even have lt1 383s crate engines; something I thought id never see. Does any one know about their reputation, are their engines build properly and no weird issues ? I am really considering buying an engine from them when the time comes.
Never heard of Golden Engine Performance.
Could it be Golen Engine Services in Hudson, New Hampshire? They have kept a nice offering of Gen 2 LT1 engines.
I've known of one person that bought a Golen LT1. It was a 383 or 396. Mechanically, it was a decently good engine, no issues. The buyer was annoyed, he had to chase all of bolt holes in the block excluding cylinders head bolt holes because the block had been painted.
Motor made lots of torque and very little hp as stock heads were used and motor was done at ~4,000 rpm but it worked OK in an Impala SS.

I bought my Golen 400hp long block in 2009. Upgraded heads and cam in 2018. Timing chain just broke at 60k miles. Used it as my dry weather daily, raced it maybe 1-2 times per year. Engine also always had a joltiness about it during low speed cruising that I wasn't a fan of. I will say that Golen always responded to my emails and phone calls and was very helpful and polite. Prices are way higher now than when I bought in '09.
