Default Thinking about switching to carburetor

I am not past the point of no return when it comes to staying with EFI or going to carbureted, still gathering parts for the engine so I've got some time to decide. In the grand scheme of things, building an engine and the rest of the car is a lot of money and when going with EFI, the car still seems to be the same bit as unreliable as before. EFI seems perfect when its working, but who knows when some part will fry itself out. Then there is the point of trying to get it tuned; that itself is pretty expensive. With a carburetor, at the minimum it just wont be tuned right but it wont ever leave me stranded. From my own experience I can probably tune one a lot better than I could tune an EFI set up.

Any one ever considered swapping over to a carb or have had similar concerns ?

Well you asked... LOL Assuming a daily driver/toy...
In my experience, I've had more carbs malfunction than EFI.(ON the other hand I'm 60 so I've had more carbed engines,,,
Mileage. At 5+ dollars a gallon, I can tune a EFI to go farther and altitude doesnt matter as much.
The ONLY efi fail I've ever had where the thing just wouldn't move was a fuel pump.
Most common reason my carbs malfunctioned,,,,Fuel pump.
Ethanol augmented fuel requires a lot of work to get a carb any where near it for overall drivability.
Ethanol doesn't vaporize as well when mixed with gasoline, it performs better when sprayed under high pressure.
You have to chose a carb carefully if its going to be running any alchohol not all tolerate it.
No matter which you use you need the proper fuel lines..

Cheers

Hey thanks for the feedback ! Im not worried about mileage as I have seen people really dial in their carburetors and get 20+ miles a gallon on "racing" engines. Its about what I get now any way and if I was really that bothered I may as well get an electric car, haha.

Ill be sticking with 93 pump gas with no matter what rout I go. Best gas I can get locally.

I would preferably like to get a Holley with mechanical secondary's and no choke. If I can get one with annular boosters that would be a bonus but its not that important.
