Default 1997 camaro ss option question

I'm trying to get this 97 SS I bought awhile to go kinda back to where it was when it was made. I've noticed some of these cars have side door trim on them (6pcs in total between the two sides) and others don't. They look like door ding protectors. Mine currently doesn't but being what was done to this car in the past I'm not sure if it may have been taken off at some point. Is there a RPO code or some way to tell if was there from the factory?

That's a good question. I ordered my '96 V6 with Y87 and a 5M manual. It did not come with the door protectors. My '96 Z28 does have them. I'm not sure if the are part of the Z28 and SS package.

I just found this....so this might be helpful.

Here it is....he does have it in the above list.....
B84
Body side moldings (for taking the abuse of other people's doors hitting the car).

All fourth gens had the body side molding. Someone must have removed it for a cleaner look.

No, they did not. I personally ordered one that DID NOT come with them. I also just verified that my Z28 does list option B84 on the inside door.

Mine doesn't have that code so I guess mine didn't have it. Cool less money I need to spend and I think it look cleaner without it anyways.

I guess I was wrong, sorry. My old Camaro had them, and I've never seen one without them unless the owner removed them. Was it standard on Firebirds?
