I am extremely happy to have gotten this Torqhead kit after so long, having repeated opti spark issues, but now ill have better tunability ect. The over all feel of all the metal and components is high quality and nothing feels flimsy at all. Having gone through the instructions on their website prior to having received them with the package it all came in, its very precise and easy to understand and im so so impressed with how it all works. Nothing feels like cheep thin soda can metal, its sturdy and the parts / build quality is just crazy.

It is all ready to go, and everything is nice and labeled. I really appreciated the feeler gauge saying "light drag dont force" to ensure the sensor was the perfect distance away. Came with all the shims you would need for this kit.

Im excited to install this onto my 1994 firebird, and I will gladly update you all on how it "performs" afterward.

I got one three years ago. Best thing I ever did to mine.

The only issue I had with mine was the female end ICM connector that delivers coil power would intermittently come loose. I have since hard wired it. That could have been an issue with the male connector on my almost 30 year old factory harness though.

by the by, I had never changed out an optispark before and as an armchair mechanic,I managed to put the system in. Removing and installing the hub was the hardest part for me.

The only thing that I’m not entirely sure about is the wiring for the obd1 to obd2 port. Is that just splicing the wires where the factory obd1 port is at ?

Yea unfortunately that crank hub is incredibly difficult, if it wasn’t for that I’d be doing it myself. I got a custom tune with Torqhead for my car with a factory engine besides some bolt ons. Im having a shop install it for me.

Im pretty hyped to see it all put in as well. In the mean time I get to research about the new pcm and tuning capabilities!!

Did y’all ever find the trouble shooting pages on the torqhead instructions to be accurate or helpful ?

Did y’all’s cars need any further tuning, having bought the custom base tune after the system was installed ?

My harness is in pretty good shape but I’ll keep an eye out for any loose plugs/ wires, thanks.

I bought two. Main issue I ran into is both hubs needed to be honed, one double keyed ATI-style big block outer diameter hub and one standard ATI-style hub.

The first was off by about 20 thousandths and the other about 5.5 thousandths.

I bought a tune from them and it hardly ran. I needed a lot more tuning and still make adjustments at the track. Mine is more of a drag car now though if it was stock the tune probably woulda been a lot closer. I also will say they are amazing to deal with for questions or concerns. Very fast to get back to you.

Finally Its perfect. ive had to deal with a misfire ever since I got this Torqhead kit installed. Everything with the kit itself has been perfect; my issues were a result of the shop messing up making the plug wires along with an annoying coincidence that occurred. kit installed. it has taken me about a month to diagnose, double check and get new parts to get my engine run flawlessly. Cutting to the chase, I had a constant misfire, a bad one. Barely got home and the engine was getting really hot. Had to top off the coolant, bleed the system and replaced all the plug wires. That solved the overheating and now the terrible awful misfired turned into a light intermittent misfire as if one cylinder was still an issue, but it wasn't as bad. I got a code p0354, telling me there was an issue with cylinder 4 was getting a misfire, or it was the one in the fourth firing order. Anyway I was pointed in the wrong direction and really because the firing order between the ls1 and the lt1 is different, the real culprit was coil on cylinder seven. I swapped the coils and the same code appeared and the intermittent misfire occurred, only happening when the engine was warmed up or I got down the road. Well later I had discovered my 4an braided steel nitrous line had cut through the sheathing of the wires that went to the coil on cylinder seven and was causing what Believe is called a short to ground as two wires were exposed and this metal line was touching both of their exposed copper wire. A good.... week or two later and a few hundred miles later and not one misfire. So problem solved !!! Only other issue I had was low voltage knock sensor so I replaced it with a Delphi knock sensor (2002 chevy express van knock sensor for the 5.7 vortec) and that solved that.

Here is how its looking now !

Yea me too. I am beyond happy that I have got rid of the optispark. If it wasnt for this kit I honestly would have had to sell the car.

The computer is a gen3 ls1 pcm. The 411 ecu. It does appear to be modified. That middle plug portion that is new is where the cam and crank signal plugs into.

The kit took right about three weeks, tack on a day or two because of ups issues.
