Combustion Gas in Cooling System I did a combustion gas leak test on my cooling system for my 95’ LT1 Firebird Formula. The dye shows a combustion gas leak. This normally means cracked head or leaking/blown head gasket. Is there another possibility as to why there is combustion gas in there? Maybe the EGR somehow?
You can also rent a coolant pressure tester from most any auto parts store, take the plugs out, pressurized the system, let it sit for several minutes and see where the gauge is at, then rotate the engine to see if coolant leaks out of a plug hole. Don't pressurize the system to more than what it is rated.
