1997 TransAm Long Tube Headers and Emissions
Hello everyone I am new to the forums and I recently purchased both a ‘97 Firebird TA and some eBay headers. I need to pass emissions where I’m located and I recently heard about O2 sensor defoulers. Does anyone have any experience with them? I apologize if this question was asked somewhere else I couldn’t find it sadly.
If you have to deal with emissions just leave it the way it left the factory. Otherwise for you guys that gotta deal with that orwellian BS it's a huge pita just to keep the car legal enough to use and not get hassled yearly or if you get pulled over.
I'm not one of those leave it alone guys so I get where you are coming from. Just reading some of the BS hoops you guys in those areas gotta jump through to even drive the cars after mods start the juice just ain't worth the squeeze in the end. Especially if you are on a limited budget and it's your only ride. If it's a toy and not your primary ride then that's different story. Just hate to see you wind up with something you can't use. Even in stock form these cars are pretty damm fast for what they are. It won't touch a hellcat or a scat or a new camaro but they aren't slow.
