Default Setup Help

Okay LT1 gurus...I am swapping motors, tranny for a 97lt1 motor and auto trans. First off do i need the harness for his tranny and his computer for it to work? Will it work with my gauges? Here will be my setup...possible output and times?

Stock shortblock
LT4 heads and Intake
58mm throttle body
CC306 cam
1.6 rr's
FLP long tubes
Borla Exhaust
FLP stg 3 tranny w/ 3600 stall and shift kit
4.10s
Aluminum driveshaft
BFG DR's
Subframe connectors
150 dry shot
I am thinking 11.0s?

it will work with guages, you will need his ecm/harness in order for the trans and converter to do thier thing. could have your computer reflashed, but still need the harness.

I would highly suggest keeping the T56.

I've seen/heard too many horror stories with the 4l60e and high stalls and nitrous including my friends that was "professionaly built" to support the extra hp. Took a crap on him 3 times before he gave up on it. If you must have an auto, go with a TH350 or TH400 conversion.

Just my .02.

i had a $800 rebuild done on my 4l60e and ran it with a 3800 stall. It held up for 2 years to multiple low 11 sec runs with 150-175 worth of nitrous, race weight was 3580lbs.
If it's built right, you wont have a problem, and most people dont realize HEAT kills these things.

I have a 4L60e in my car with 2 nitrous kits and a big inch motor.
it's holding up fine.

I've seen T56 cars trash out a clutch in a few launches behind a similar setup.

It all depends on how you drive.

Heat def. kills autos. I've seen waaaay more f&#*ked up 4l60's than t56's though, especially LT1 cars. Some have good luck with autos, others don't. Seems kind of hit/miss.

And the clutch is not really the tranny, just like the stall is not part of the automatic. Burning up a clutch is not the same as toasting 2nd gear. A person can R&R a clutch in half a day.

I guess we can agree to dis-agree on this one.
