Well..got my engine home yesterday. Pulled the valve covers and found this

Busted Springs..more than 1. About 4 total. Any ideas? This is a CC306 and the springs look aftermarket (person i bought it from has provided details yet). Not having a good time right now.

More info would be good.

Are using 1.6 RR's? Did you buy the engine like this then?

Could be that the springs are shimmed too much causing coil bind. Or maybe they are not the correct springs.

I bought the engine this way. It was supposed to drop in and run. The guy had Crane Gold 1.6s on it. Im not sure what happened here.

Taking a closer look at those springs and all that dirt/crud I can see, you've got bigger issues than a couple broken valvesprings. Wonder how much of that crud is going/did make it through your bearings. Bummer man.

I had it all apart...there is no dirt/crud in the lower end.. just up there..I will be blowing that out and running a few quick oil changes through it. The lower end is spotless... and I dug thru the oil that was in the lower pan...it was spotless and no metal shavings at all.
