Ive seen a few people on CZ28 running mid 13s stock in LT1 cars... Ive seen more than a fair share of LS1 cars run high 13s. Its possible

Also another important thing the LS1 crowd leaves out of the equation...
300rwhp + shitty driver = Getting beat by a stock LT1

true, numbers are numbers, its simple math really, but i just dont understand, yea a car with 300rwhp should beat me, but when a stocker lt1ss goes 13.38@102.4, and lays down 276/311 at the wheels, its a torque game at rpm levels, yea i supposed an ls1 would beat an lt1, but who races from an 80mph punch?like i said above i have been beaten by 1 ss, but that car put down 320 stock.i have yet been beaten by any other ls1's..........

correct me if im wrong... but i think most low mph acceleration #'s were about the same in both, 5.4 ish 0-60 vs 5.2 ish, the ls1 has its advantege up top. so unless your racing the whole 1/4 mile thier really close. just my 2 cents.

0-60 doesn't mean anything, considering it's typically totally dependant on the 60' time more than lowend power. Due to this, the 0-60 time usually varies highly from driver to driver. but yes, MA is right. In the full quartermile, the LS1 would easily have the better numbers.

All else being equal...driver, weight, track conditions, the ls1 should win. That being said, before my heads when i was running 13.5 with bolt ons I walked on many a ls1 on the street. In a full 1/4 mile i believe they woulda got me...but in a normal street race through the beginning of fouth for me I would win. Makes spending 10K on an ls1 a little ridiculous when my z cost 6500.

The money aspect is moot point as well...I bought my 95Z for 12,300.00 back in the day. The LS1 cars were still ~16 to 18K. When that argument comes up the 5.0 foxbody pops in my head...can be had for ~1000.00 and made faster than hell for another 1K.

Very true. When it comes to the money issue, nothing is cheaper to buy/mod than a Fox.

My buddy has a 98 WS6 that raced against my 94Z. My Z had many more mods and i still got my **** kicked. Those LS1's are much stronger stock than the LT's. I'm an LT guy myself, but the LS1 is a force to reckon with.

The only real argument I can make for the LS1 is it is a much easier engine to work. Thing is, when you've worked on an LT1 for years or any motor that you've become extremely familiar with for years, you don't give it a second thought to what it takes to repair or mod it. I could honestly almost teardown an LT1 with my eyes closed at this point so the "ease of working on it" doesn't really mean squat to me anymore.

That is well known in the community, LS technology was long overdue and welcomed with open arms, but a lot of the LT folks enjoy pushing the limits and doing what many say can't be done with LTs (also they are usually paid for). I for one do not live for making my car faster than an LS1, sure I enjoy cracking LS asses, but get my LT *** cracked equally. It's all in good sportsmanship. I need a backup car and am considering an LS car.....or maybe a pickup ....so I can make a trailer queen LT car ...it's fun whether LS or LT, shrugs
