Exclamation installed complete exhaust, engine sputtering?

i just installed hooker lts and a 3 inch X pipe and durring low rpms sometimes the engine sputters. would this be cuz of me still having stock intake or a problem with the injectors or fuel pump? i am about to buy a cai but im wondering if it will solve this problem.

I have the stock intake with Jet-Hot LTs and I do not have this problem.....could be ignition or it could be the fuel

check and make sure you dont have a plug wire on the wrong plug ( crossed ) also check the cermiac(sp?) on the plug and make sure you didnt crack one while putting in the new plugs

There is really no way for an intake to malfunction unless its cracked or warp in which case it looses vacuum or its seal(neither of which would ever happen from a header install). The injectors just spray the fuel into the ports, and if they were malfunctioning, then the car would stutter progressively more as the RPM's tried to increase. The fuel pump just provides the gas at a pressure high enough to keep the fuel moving fast enough for the injectors to be able to keep up with the rpm's so thats not it. You should always try to think a) What did I disconnect and had to reconnect b) what did i have to relocate c) could anything that i had to disconnect/reconnect/alter or relocate create a symptom like this. On a header install, you really only have to pull the plug wires, sometimes the plugs, relocate the wires, and disconnect the O2's. So those will be the first things you will want to check, especially since the symptoms are identical to misfire symtoms, ie plugwires/plugs. Considering 90 percent of people who install headers wind up with a few burnt/melted plug wires right off the bat, it would be in your best interest to check those first. Check your plugs as well to make sure they werent damaged in the install if you left them on, and to also verify that they werent damaged when you put them in or took them out. If your O2's started to malfunction, you would have misfires all over the place and your car wouldnt even want to idle so it is very unlikely that your problem lies with the O2's. You never touched any part of the intake, injectors, or fuel pump, so why would any of them all of a sudden go bad because of a header install?...they wouldnt. Check for thing that would cause a misfire: plugs and plug wires.

if you're running cats, make sure they aren't clogged.

Are these coated or painted?? I thought I remembered hearing something about the painted ones burning off and screwing with the o2s when they are first installed. If im confused/incorrect.. this conversation never happened.. I dont exist.

You are probably running rich which sputtering is normal. The unburnt fuel will ignite from the heat of the pipes . This happens most noticeable if the cats are set far back, or if you engine is really hot. I added true duels to my TT 3000gt and noticed the sputtering. It's normal though. If you dont have any cats then it will be alot worse. I just read your LT are coated which would further explain sputtering because it will keep your EGTs down the exhaust hotter. With yoru set up it's perfectly normal.

the hole into the intake will definately cause it because it is air that the MAF isnt registering. Loose plugwires will definately cause an issue and the leak along the intake tract will cause a problem as well, just depends upon where the leak is happening. WHen running rich, the sputtering will only take place on decelleration when excess fuel is dumped. When or if it is dumped, it usually ignites in the primaries or within the cat itself, jsut depends on the temperatures of each segment. The coated primaries will still get almost as hot as the regular pipes, but they will cool down MUCH faster.
