Default lt4 hotcam cut-off

Hi all

i have camaro lt1 1995 man trans & i installed lt4 hotcam with a lot of modification like moroso ram air, TB 52mm, ported mass air, ported manifold & heads,1.6 gold rocker, lt4 valve spring, crank pulley, slp headres, accel ignition system, msd wire site & borla exhaust system (no cats).

my first question is:
1- where should be the cut off for my cam & the best rpm to shift (my computer have custom program & cut off at 6300 rpm) so waht u suggest?
i saw corvette lt4 red line at 6200 so i think for the lt4 hotcam should be more isn't it !!!

2- what do u think about my modification & how many hourse power u think i have, i am not planning to add any parts for now but i well be happy if u tell me any ideas & suggests so i do it later.

3- which plate should i put for the borla is it the closed or open one spieally for the long distance like 700m or 800m & what is the diffrent between the plates(no problem for the sound if its the best for power & torque)

Thanks a lot

id say somewhere around 350 at the wheels. i wouldnt go above 6200 on a stock bottom end. no reason to really. as far as shifting well im not a drag racer so someone else will have to answer. for future mods id say gears and or a torque converter if your an auto.

I have some of the same mods you do, and I had my pcm tuned and the guy who did it set the shift points for me. It usually shifts around 6300

Unless your tuner spent lots of time trying to figure out what the calibrations are for your hacked MAF you would be better off with a stock one. It is a precision measuring device, porting it destroys the calibration, with stock tuning this can lead to a temporary power gain, with aftermarket tuning already setup for the right AFR it can lead to a lean condition.

Gears should be next if you don't already have them, with the t56 4.10s can be quite tame even on the highway.

My turn!

For drag racing you might try shifting at 6,400-6,500. My only concern is the cheap springs in the Hot cam kit. Now you are listing LT4 springs? this will take it down some. I would worry about float with either one after any time running. I change mine once A year or so depending on how I run them.

rrght now with a GM 847 cam and K-Motion valve springs i am shifting at 6,900RPM on a stock bottom end. I have been doing that for a few years now.

I am running an A4 with a 12 bolt and last dyno untuned it made 395 RWHP SAE corrected.....peak HP at 6,800

Besides the valve springs and hacked up MAF you should have a solid combination

Don't mean to hijack the thread but i'm a little interested in something here. TwoFast4LV, so you spin the motor to 6900 rpm on a stock bottom?? If you don't mind me asking, how many miles are on it, and how often do you do this? I've been hearing that over 6300 or 6400 on the stock bottom, and the rod bolts (pressed on?) and/or bearings go. I've been curious about this, just wondering if you could enlighten me.

I can see 6200 or maybe 6400 but you really don't need to go that high in the first place. It just cause's valve float and wears out your set-up that much faster.

I have been spinning my motor over 6,600 since 1999. It was a motor out of a wrecked car. I bought it from Jason Short off of CZ28. To be honest I think the folks at CZ28 paid for half of it.

The engine had 18 k on it when I got it and has had an additional 30k since. We tore it down 6k miles ago and the bearings were perfect.....So I tossed in a set of off the shelf 77s stock size and along with a GM#847 and turned it up!

Shifting just before it hitts the 7,000 MSD chip for over two years now.

here are some things to look at
