200mph? Can it be done?
There is a guy on the Impala board that hit a radar verified 193mph on the Autobahn(lives in Austria) before he tore the car down he used to hussle exotics, imagine owning a $250K+ car and getting your @$$ handed to you by a Chevy family sedan. He had a highend builder on that side of the Atlantic put the motor together for him think it was single turbo and a stock polished crank, and know the cooling system was stock. Aside from the power mods the most extensive thing he did was brakes, he was involved in developing a serious kit for the b-body, like multiple 160-slow brakings causing cherry red rotors but no damage. Spend money on the brakes before power if you really intend to go that fast, what is the point in hitting 200mph if you are not around after to brag about it.

Even if hitting the brakes at 200mph is bad you still need to slow down, sure coast down to 150 before hitting them but stock brakes are not worth much at 150. If top speed hunting you need better brakes even if you can't hit them at the top speed.
the LS1 brakes work suprisingly well. I do lap days with my car at Pacific Raceways in seattle. Coming off of the front straight in the neighborhood of 160mph and then hard on the brakes into turn 2. The stock brakes will only begin to fade towards the end of a 20minute session.
But if you are at 150+ mph you would also be suprised how fast you bleed off speed when you just lift off the throttle.

There is another difference between our cars, the b-body had sort of small rotors in front and the disc rear cars(SS and 9C1) got the drum proportioning valve, so unless you mod it the rear discs do about nothing in normal use and only kick in uder hard braking. The new FWD Impalas use a thicker front rotor than the b-body.
I thought of another top speed type Impala, a guy who runs the Silverstate hit 175mph, he did it with a fairly mild cam even, the 845, I believe he also went 2.56 outback to avoid OD under throttle.

My brakes suck. I dont know that they have ever been replaced
I'm planning on getting some ebay drilled/slotted rotors and some pads from NAPA. Anything would be better than the ones on there now. My ABS has been disabled somehow yet i still can't lock up the wheels with these brakes.
I've decided that at 17 i am going to formally withdrawl myself from my social status. I had a half dozen teens approach my car at church yesterday and tell me how awsomely bad-*** my car is, ask for a ride, and i even let one drive it. Then the whole flock of us (14) drove to Friendley's for some ice-cream and the whole way they were racing and being dumb. I dont know whether they were trying to impress me, entice me, or they are just normally like that. I'm not implying i am better than anyone or anything, i'm just saying I don't want someone to make a mistake because of my influence. This coming from the guy who goes to all night keggers and has never drank before
What do you all think i should do? Build up my car, continue upon my increasing popularity, or should i just keep the car and make it nicer inside? I'm known for speed and power, but should i just indulge upon myself and spiff up my interior/exterior?

So how fast have you been on a backroad?Speaking of hitting a deer,I hit one at about 65 mph and it sounded like I hit a tree!!It was a buck about 160 lbs I hit him with the drivers side headlight and in his shoulder,it sent him flying about75 ft distance and about 8 ft high then when he hit the pavement he slide about 60 more ft and he never moved.If you hit a deer at 120+ I just can't imagine!!!!Oh yea it buckled my fender,hood,knocked out headlights and foglights,there was deer hair stuck between the plastic frontend and the metal fender(1984 Z-28 )in the seam.

I think you should do a little all around and save up some for college...money goes fast in college let me tell you. Get some better brakes, headers, gears, stall and even a cam for some rumpity rump at a stop light. Lowering springs, SFC's, panhard rod, window tint, a good sound system and maybe even a 100-150 shot of NOS. Then you would have a real fast car, real good looking car, and real comfortable car to drive everyday and enjoy. Plus a lot more realistic too.

No, I'm 17. I curse when im mad, but i can't remember the last time i was really mad. Alot of things just dont bother me. I think the last time i get mad was when i was putting one of those huge Wal-mart computer desks together. The side caved in when i was flipping it over and tore the pegs out of the wood. I was kinda mad becuase everything kept breaking. I didnt get mad when i totalled my car, or when found out it had a speed limiter of 115mph.
I didnt hit the deer in my car. The guy i bought it from did. He hit it at 75mph and destroyed the front passenger side, the hood, the headlights and bar, the turn signal, and somehow cracked the rear bumper. I have picture of all of it when i first got it, and what it looks like now that i fixed it. It's all on the website in my sig.
The fastest i have gone on a backroad is 186mph in the car i totalled when i actually wasnt doing ANYTHING stupid like i normally do. I swerved for a dead animal at 45-50mph and somehow lost control. I ended up going through 4 trees and landing sideways between two without a scratch on me. That was sort of a wake up call. It was determined the rear wheel steering could possible have been the reason the rear wheels hopped up. I figured if that had happened when i was doing one of my top speed runs and i had turned the wheel slightly and the rear steering didnt steer back like that did i would be dead.
As far as mods i guess i will put in some Subs. The guy who had the car before me had a totall of 5 15's and 2 12's in the rear. He broke the back window with the bass so now there is some sort of competition glass in the hatch so it won't break. I still have all of the wiring going to the back so i could use that. I already ordered a DVD player and 8" screen to put in there. I have all new speakers to go all the way around too.
For performance the next mod will be an exhaust. I have a 3 1/2" Flowmaster cat-back and i cut it off right at the muffler becuase flowmasters suck, plus the muffler was kinda dented. I plan on getting Pascetters LT's into 3" cats, into 3" aluminum piping, into a 3" X pipe, into 3" bullets, then exiting right before the rear wheels from those flat/square tips. What do you guys think?

The side exhaust is not a good idea....first off the ground clearance will be treacherous and the u shaped bends are not good for exhaust flow. Secondly if you ever did subframe connectors it wouldn't go well. Thirdly...the flat tips would look fugly in my opinon. Pacesetter's or jethot LTs into and ORP....then into Borla, Mufflex, Magnaflow, GMMG or Corsa if you have the money....Borla and the last two look the best i think.
