Question Question about OBD connectors.

OK I have been looking at things like the Auto Tap programming unit. It saids it needs an OBD II connector to work so I thought that ment it was only for 95+ F-Bodys. Turns out some 1995 Z28's (which is what I own) have OBD II connectors or that is what I heard. So I'm little confused here, do all OBD I computers have OBD I type connectors or do some of the later OBD I's come equipped with OBD II style connectors?

You are RIGHT!!! Some later OBD-I cars (95/96) came with the OBD-II connectors. OBD-I connectors are rectanguar while OBD-II connectors are narrow at the bottom (like a diamond).

OBD-II was not implemented till 1996. many 95 car and trucks used the OBD-II connector while keeping OBD-I electronics. they were ramping up for the coming year.

Made it easy to convert my car to OBD-II that is for sure!

Most 1995 F-bodys have a 16pin OBDII Connector.. but they all have OBD1 computers. I got a cable from http://www.wotelectronics.com/faobd2.htm 65.00 shipped. Works great so far.

well I have a few questions for all of you.

How many A4s? How many big a stall over 3,000?

This was the only fix we could come up with to run a 4,000 stall and get a 1-2 shift while still retaining programability

I spent a good deal of money trying to come up with a TRUE fix for the problem. Ed Write now has the fix. I know for sure as I run it in a OBD-I box when testing

I also feel the car runn's smoother and reacts better running the 97 box. I have been running OBD-II since 2001. I flip back and forth

Would that have been easier to do with replacing the harness (going I to II) overall? What would have been the full advantage of that now vs doing it later with basic mods?
