Default Fastest LT4 Hot Kit

I was thinking about going this route. I am actually shooting for the fastest totally stock internal LT1 6spd on thursday. After I accomplish that I thought H/C might be next. Although the LT4 hot kit doesnt seem so impressive compared to some of the aftermarket setups, It would make my car about 8 tenths faster. Now we are talking potential mid 11s @ close to 120. I think I just might do it. It would still be under the new NHRA rules for 11.50 and slower not needinging a rollbar. The hot cam isnt the greatest but is fairly easy to tune and is mild. 847 cam would be up next. Sounds like a plan.

Well I "know" I will be the fastest come thursday because I have confidence in my ability to drive and my car. As far as fastest and LT4 hot kit being an oxy moron, I guess you would consider a mid 11 second , full weight stock bottom end camaro LTX to be slow?

I was able to get my LT4 set up to an 11.96 with 3450#.
Unless spraying I do not see much better than 11.8s max with the HOT cam set up. Unless you are able to get in the 3000# range.

Is that with the heads, intake, cam, rockers etc?? My car should be running around 12.3's @ over 110 come Thursday and thats with TOTALLY STOCK internals. I have to think I'd pick up close to 8 tenths with the complete kit...

That was with the LT4 Heads with 2.02/1.60 valves and bowl work, compression in the 11:1+ range. TH350/3500 Vig/3.73s.
With an M6 it would be lighter and faster along with 4.10s.
Good luck and I hope you get the ET you are looking for.

What have you done to pick up 4 tenths from the time listed in your sig? how much does the car weight?

Should be? Good bench racing. Run the time, then talk.

im not uderstanding how youre talking about putting in the hot cam kit and still call it stock internal. i always thought stock internal ment that the valve covers have never been untorqued. your describing a stock bottom end.

I am stock internal now....obviously if i put the LT4 hot kit on it would no longer be stock internal...You are right..."should be" is not "is" Once i run the number I'll change my sig and you will be the first to know.
Since I ran the 12.7 I had the car dyno tuned. It picked up 16rwhp and 20rwt. I also removed the seats from the interior(roughly 60 lbs). I am going to be using 15" convo pros w/ 275/50/15 M/T E/T street radials versus 16" E/T streets. And the DA will be ATLEAST 1000" better. I ran the 12.7 in the summer with a DA of 1200. The DA on the 11th should be right around 0 if not lower... I never had the car on a scale but it is an every option Z28 6spd with a moser rear, subframe connectors, heavy duty suspension. The only thing i did to lighten it up is the 15" wheels, fiberglass cowl hood, no front sway hbar, no seats inside besides drivers and no spare/jack. My best guess for racewight is atleast 3500lbs with me in it. I weigh 170.

i think your weighing more than 3500. a friend has a gutted ss with a 9in and th400. the car is blown has a cage, but has no interior, no front bumper, drap light rims, car weights nearly 3800. he weights about 200.

good luck with your goals, but i doubt youll make mid 11s with the hotcam. i hope you do though

I think with the right setup a 11.7x is attainable with the lt4 kit. Are you going to port the lt4 heads at all? Hell I'm running a cam the size of the hotcam and stock ported heads and I hit 11.7x in 2350DA with a setup that was no where near what it should be.

Now I must ask, why spend all that money on the lt4 crap? You can go a lot faster for cheaper.

I agree with the why statement, get a much larger cam and work done to the LT1 heads. Be ahead of the game and less money.

True..I was just thinking of the idea. I personally like the LT4 Hot Kit. Although it may not be really radical as far as power production, it does offer awesome driveability and quality GM parts. I know I can go faster for less. The nice thing about the LT4 kit is that it is all new GM parts. I was also thinking about buying a set of bare LT4 heads, having them ported and polished and all ther other good stuff. Then putting in a 847 cam. I think that package would make AWESOME power. Probably right around 400 to the wheels. It would also be fairly radical with that cam. I'm not sure of how i wanna go and how radical i wanna make my car. As of now it drives like stock but waaay faster

Also..how much was your LE setup; soup to nuts. Just curious. This way we can compare apples to apples. I know I can get the complete lt4 setup for around 2200 total including all gaskets.

We all speculate for sure but until u actually break the record I would be alittle more humble

Now to think your gonna get 8 tenths out of the LT4 setup is alittle hopeful. We did a 355 setup w/very mild LT1 heads 224/230 cam and most boltons and the car ran 11.77@113 threw an A4.I wouldnt expect the LT4 setup to gain more than 4 to 5 tenths over a 12.30 pass.

So IF u do run 12.30's expect to be about a 11.8 w/the LT4 setup...

JS
Actually ran 11.19@120.28
