Default a bottom end rebuild question

im bout to try n build a 355 and would like to know if you can use 6" rods with the stock crank. its kind of a budget deal and i know everyone will say go 383 but i dont know if funds will allow it or not yet. but just in case can i use the 6" rod? i probably wont really spin higher then 6500 rpm if that matters, and will use maybe a 200 shot on the money races but other then that 150 or less

You can use a 6" rod but you need a different piston with a higher wrist pin height, this will take a lot of stress off of the cylinder wall and piston and rod when the piston comes to the bottom.
i built a 355 with 5.7 rods and KB pistons stock fuel system full bolt ons went 11.50 on a 150 shot..
355's can be real wicked if you build it right, with a 6" rod sounds like your on the right track,pm me if you have any other questions.
