Default Ls1 Ram Air on a Lt1, pics inside

Here are the pics of my setup. Alot of grinding and fitting, but it works great. I think it might even fit under a stock hood.

Sweet, I wonger if it would fit, what was envolved for the sap, other than the LS1 lid/filter?

plexy glass, grinder , drimmel, time, ls1 lid, air box, lower radiator support clips.

You have to cut out the frame! so the air filter will sit down, so the lid will sit down , so the hood will shut. I had to cut out some on the hood, and i had to lower the a/c condensor down 1" so the air filter would sit down level.

I thought it up myself, i am looking for every hp out of my little LT. I am going for the Lt1 m6 bolt-on record, and i figured that gm designed this as an improvment over the old CAI. So if it works on LS1's and they can get hp by adding a lid, then maybe i can put the hole thing on a Lt1 and get some Hp. Plus i dont like the Lt1 CAi design, i think its restrictive( although while i was at thunder shootout there were 9 second cars with the old lt1 CAI) I just wanted to see if i could do it. When i first got the parts in and put it all on the car , the hood wouldn't close!! If lacked 5-6", not even close. ALL of my friends said it couldn't be done( with good reason), but i wanted too, and i had already sold the Moroso CAI.

My on going project now is a Corvette reverse open hood for the Camaro. The only way it will work is by getting rid of the CAI, and the battery on both sides on the radiator. I'll post picks when its done( I dont think any one else has tried this yet, I hope to be the first)

Nice. Did you use the cold air setup to scoop air from the bottom? Where does it suck air from? The two slots up front like normal LS1's? LMK b/c I may try a similar setup. Later Clint

IIRC from reading on CZ28.com the WS6 hood and Ultra Z hoods give much better clearance, making the work less. Looks good though I'm eventually going this route when I pick up a WS6 hood.

the UltraZ hood while giving better clearance is also designed for the ULtraZ ramair airbox. similer to the LT1 WS6 ramair box. it may not be compatible. $800+ would suck to spend and find out it doesn't fit right an hinders operation

I bought a used WS6 hood, and used the stock LS1 plastic piece that goes over the radiator, MTI lid and a SLP smooth bellow.
