To The People Running The "GM847" Cam....
What are you shifting at? Whats The Idea RPM Range of this cam? If I dont install a better rotating assembly right away and shift at around 6200 will I still make any power for the time being? Also whats a good set of Springs and rocker arms for the GM847, I know this cam gets brought up ofton but I tried searching for rpm range but had no luck, thanks.
Chris
You'll be fine shifting at 62-6400...but she'll want more.
of course that was also with a cheapo torque converter that had HORRIBLE slippage, but the stock rotating assy. will take it in stride... as long as you have good oil pressure and the bearings aint worn out... When I had 115,000 on the car and a shift kit, I still let it shift automaticall with the stock tranny,
accidentally left it in 2nd from the burnout, before I knew it 1st, 2nd, .......7000 RPM oops... Spun 5 bearings.... rebuild time..ballanced and BP bottom end.
but now I can spin it to 7k whenever I want if I get a bigger cam.
