Kook's LT1 headers installation Just did a write up and posted some pics on cz28.com. I love the header's but I still cannot get the EGR valve hooked up. The EGR valve and header hookups are BOTH threaded on the outside and I can't find an adapter anywhere. I just sent Chuck from HPE an email so hopefully he'll have a solution for this. Scroll to top for write-up, pics are at the bottom. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...=1#post2694873 |
Sinister, Thanks for the write up and posting photo's. Unfortunately Kook's isn't a sponsor on the other board so I couldn't comment. I spoke with Chuck at HPE and he told me he has an adapter or knows where to get one to convert from the 95-97 emissions set up to the 1993. Please keep me posted on your progress as well as the SOTP improvement. If you're dynoing, by all means post results. Nick "Kook's Headers" |
cool deal. ss looks nice after being heat cycled i think |

Well judging by the fact that the car has a MAF in the pictures, as well the 94 in his screen name I'm guessing its a 1994. :burn: |
BTW can you order them without the EGR as well as the AIR hookups(as was mentioned)? |
Nah, I was talkin to Neil. He has the 93... Neil, aka Bizzzatch, is the biggest LT1 enthusiast known to man! Yet he drives a bone stock LT1. It's people like that, who encourage people like Rick, to do what they do. :D And if you don't know Neil, this comment probably won't make any sense! lol Chuck |

What exact problems are you having with it? |

So give me an update on ground clearance. Back in 97 I installed a set of SLP headers and was very happy with them. In 2002 I went to Hooker LT1 ,and 11 second passes N/A, The SLP headers went on my Wifes car. They have always been a great part and highly recomend them for daily driven cars. I have not been as Happy with the hookers. I like low cars. A week after I bought my car we instlled a set of Eibach Sport line springs ,was a 2+ inch drop when we were done, and loved them. That is me the lowest in the gruop. Well as everyone knows I had to give that up with the Hookers. I have NEVER been happy about it. Every one Is saying there kooks pick up gruond clearance. Sell me on them ;) |
Looks great man. Let us know the power diffrence. |
so basically i guess kooks are the best headers out there :D how do they compare to pacesetters??? im in the market for some longtubes and dont have very much money to spend. but, if everyone can convice me why to spend the extra money to get the kooks then ill just wait longer and do that. thanks |

I got some mods, cold air, converter and a loud mouth. Maybe a box will fall on me at Walmart and I can sue, man that would be so damn awesome. I would be like rich and stuff, glad I encourage Rick, nice to see a local car go out and give big money, big dollar cars a run for their money. |
needals, Here's a few reasons: great overall design in 304 stainless (should provide indefinite trouble free use), great fit, easy installation, great plug access, scavenger spiked collectors, available in straight 1-3/4 or 1-3/4 x 1-7/8 x 3" or 3-1/2" collectors, hand ported inlets, no need for special adapter plates etc...... |

Like I have said time and time before, it may actually costs less to get the Kooks in the first place. A lot of guys buy headers, install them, dont like them then they switch to some thing else, in the end with header costs what they are, they simply surpass what they would have spent if they had just gotten the Kooks in the first place. :eek2: |
Ground Clearance So does any one have pics with the car on the gruond for the clearance? I can easily be sold on thiese...some one just has to step up and do it ;) |

But Kooks didn't exist back then in 97 and if they did I wasn't aware of it. 1st I had borla headers SS 1 5/8, they rocked. Then went to RK Sport Semi Clone AS&M's, hated them they leaked like crazy. Now I'm running FLP's, they rock minuse the infamous y-pipe bang. Solid mounts had to be the cure for that and now I'm switching to Kooks this summer. 1 7/8 stepped to a 3" w/ cats. So anyone want some FLP's in July? :D |
