Weird start-up problems.
Weird start-up problems. Hey guys whats up,
For what ever reason my car has been acting wierd.
When I start it up cold sometimes it starts fine, but makes a wierd clacking/squeeking noise
And sometimes it will barely start and sort of stutter either stalling or slowly climbing up the rpms to normal idle.
But then sometimes it just starts right up perfectly normal.
Also the cars normal idle is about 1400-1600 rpms, that seems a little high to me.
Does anybody have any ideas???

Your idle is extremely high. An A4 should idle at 550-600 and an M6 should idle at 800-900. I wonder if the idle setting causes these problems? Next time you start the car watch the tach and see how high it goes on initial start up.
It's a 97 m6 formula, it has an aftermarket accell 300+ racing ignition that was on the car, not sure if that may casue a problem, not even sure if it was made for the car, sometimes at start-up it will barely hit 800, but then sometimes it will go up to 2000 then go down, hopefully i'll be getting a lap-top soon so could I use that to re-adjust everything?
