Default 93 camaro speedo

The 93 z28 used a 700r4 transmission, so does it also use a cable-driven speedo?

How does it work? Could it be modified to run with my 89 700r4? Would it work with a 94 wiring harness?

Yes, it will work with an 89 trans, i have a 88 trans out of a truck in mine......It more or less works like a hall effect distributor, so instead of a mechanical linkage to the speedo, it gets an electrical signal

Will just the gauges be enough? Or will i need other pieces, wiring and etc. to complete the swap into my 1994?

I think the speedo issue will be the least of your worries, You should find out what you would have to do with the electrical signals that go to the solenoids in the valve body, find out if you can have your computer re-programmed without them. Remember pre '94 700r4's didnt have the solenoids.

Im not really worried about the signals. My 700 is all mechanical, along with my complete motor. They are basically stand alone, im just looking for a way to wire up my stock speedo and how to keep the lockup feature of the tranny.
