Is your car stock? If it is you wont see any real difference.

The stock 48mm tb is good enough for anything short of forced induction or a good H/C setup, a 52mm tb is good for maybe 5 rwhp with only bolt-ons. You can port the tb yourself with a Dremel, someone here should have a link to a how-to guide.

I dont really know anything about porting the intake. But i do know that the lt4 intake flows better than the lt1 intake and from that you only see a max of 5-10 fwhp on a modded car, next to nothing on a near stock car.

Like MA said, don't bother porting. Either invest in an airfoil or a 52mm TB. Don't port. It's not worth it like an LS1. If you're plannibg on doing the intake, then plan on tking it somewhere to have it cleaned (aluminum hot tanked). It's guaranteed that you have oil and carbon in it and the metal will stick in it. Get a set of new gaskets, set it up, scribe it, and port away. If you're gonna do it with dremel...plan on being there a while. otherwise, if you have an air compressor that will keep up with a die grinder, go to eastwood.com and they'll have a starter it plus a book to teach you the basics. Hell, you might already know ho to do it. BUT, it's not worth the trouble on an LT1.

Yea, get the intake cleaned, I forgot about that. They get pretty dirty. Im currently helping my buddy rebuild the lt1 in his 94 caprice and the intake is pretty black, it does have 226,000 miles on it, but it certainly doesnt look like it.

You only need to port the intake at the TB if you have a 58 mm TB. The stock intake can accomodate up to a 54 mm TB. You should not go bigger than 52 mm unless you are heavily modified.
