upper RPM Coughing and power loss
upper RPM Coughing and power loss well frankly my mph sucks (112 best) and at 5000 on up the motor falls on its face and coughs like mad, i put vicegrips on the fuel return line but it didnt help so its not starving for fuel, i think its the lifters or springs but is there any way to know for sure? i think im going to remove the lifter plungers and shim them near solid with washers.

Try the coil first (it's cheaper anyways). If that's not it, check to make sure there is no arcing in the plug wires w/ anything else. Then I'd take a look at the opti. BTW, if you have the chance, have the car scanned, as sometimes when an opti goes out it'll throw a code (35 or 36 if I can remember correctly) but it won't throw an SES light.

is there any way to find out for sure if its ignition or valve float besides just changing parts till it goes away? i also need new slicks, skinnies for the front, new lifters new valve springs etc etc and i am on limited budget + going to iraq in 6 weeks.
