There is no LT4 knock sensor. The sensors are the little round deals on the lower sides of the block that the wires connect to. If you remove them all the coolant in the block will drain. That is a good thing when repalcing heads or pulling the motor.
The knock module is in the PCM and is less sensitive to noises and knock in the motor due to the LT4's roller rockers making more clatter and also the Lt4 was fitted with composite valve cover to dampen the noise even more.
The LT4 k/m will not allow the PCM to pull timing during hard accaleration from false knock and has been known to make 5-10 rwhp, in some cases. It is a good upgrade, either way. For $35, it worth to have just to prevent false knock timing pull.
The LT1 version is very, very sensitive.

I put in an LT4 knock module about a month ago and I can notice a big difference at higher RPMs. (I have a 1996 SS by the way) I used to feel the car get funny around 5000 and didn't know what it was, till now. I haven't had it to a track or dyno since but, I think I probably gained a little bit out of it since I now can feel it pull good past 5000. Hope it works out as good for you. Oh, and I got mine on ebay for like around $30.
