RR's will always have a "slight" noise to them and in an LT1 seems to be a little louder. They are not self-adjusting, you might be thinking "self-aligning", meaning the rocker keeps the valve tip on the roller tip by way of side walls, omitting the use of guideplates. Self alignings not good for high rpm use(+7k), though. My suggestion is to readjust the rockers (see 3 other threads in LT1/4) on adjusting RR's. Oh and definatley get a LT4 knock module. See LT4 thread.

I thought I was hearing a 'tick' from my headers when the engine was cold, but after changing to 5w30 from a heavier weight, the tick went away. I've begun to think it is likely a particular RR that maybe should get re-tightened, but I really don't seem to hear it anymore.

If headers are installed or exh has ever been removed and you hear a ticking sound, insure that it isn't a leaking exh gasket, first. Those are a royal pain to track until it finally blows way out.
Biggreek, this may also be your case.

sapper probably nailed your problem. i have a slight header leak on my #2 cylinder, i couldnt find it untill it started to slightly show some soot around the bottom of the port where the header bolts up. i thought it was my rockers for almost a month. i checked the lash almost weekly because i was afraid one was going to back off or come loose.

Exactly which oil has more to do with valvetrain noise than the weight rating.
Roller rockers will often be more audible than stamped, it is just the nature of the beast. Exhaust leaks are often mistaken for valvetrain noise too so a closer look is warranted there.
You might even pick up a little more pep with the LT4 module if the pcm is currently pulling any timing due to the extra noise of the roller rockers but it will not change the amount of noise they make. It was actually developed specifically because the LT4 used roller rockers from the factory so when we add it to deal with roller rocker potentially causing false knock we are actually using it for exactly what GM intended, aint often that happens huh.
