Default I want head!

What up guys I have been toying with the idea of buying some used LT-4 heads to get ported and polished for a custom cam to match the heads for my LT-1. I have looked on ebay and there is nothing there. First question is should I by LT-4 heads to get ported or should I get my stock LT-1 heads ported instead? What would be better? Then secondly were the heck can I get a pair of LT-4 heads? They dont necessarally have to be new but I dont want some old shatty ones either? Could you help me out and let me know, Thanks

Depends on what your goals are. For a good majority of folks, ported stockers are more than adequate (depending on who does the work).

If you're looking at a high HP FI setup where you really will need the flow I would look at some aftermarket castings. If you're just going to run a H/C setup, I'd suggest getting a good port job on the stockers from someone like Lloyd.

I personally would go with the LT4's but you get get some really great performance from a set of ported stock cast heads. The thread below is pretty recent and nobody has responded to it so they may still be for sale.

I have just seen Lloyd Elliots site for the fist time the other day. I, myself, have been woking with heads for about 15 years. His prices for for head cam pkg are awesome, the #'s I see him producing on ppl cars on this forum are awesome. Instead of having yours done, get a set of aftermarkets(as said above) or send yours off to Lloyd. I don't know if he has an exchange policy or what, I have my own heads so I have no reason to really read into his site. AFR's are also an outstanding head.
As for the LT4 heads, ehhhh, just stick with the LT1's, ported, and have the intake matched to it, you'll be g2g (good2go). Besides, $200 for LT4 intake vs. $75 for port match + $40 for powder coat (if wanted) from reputible shop.

Edit: I found this surfing this morning for ya
