Looking to buy hotcam kit.
Also, I have heard of stock LT1 valve covers not working with 1.6 or bigger RR. How true?
Any suggestions on what else I should purchase to go along with this cam? I think I'm going to invest in the HD LT4 timing chain. Mods are in sig. And I will have the LTs by the time the cam goes in.
Also, if I do not buy the kit from SummitRacing, what RR do you reccomend? Springs, retainers, locks?

Hows it run then?

Honestly, once I let the new replacement springs heat cycle and laid into the gas, I could feel a bit of difference up top.
Enough to get a speeding ticket.
To those who want a good-mannered, reliable, and fairly quick daily-driver, the Hotcam kit is a good choice at a good price (if you can find the good priced kits). With a solid tune, it will run great and can be a lot of fun on the street with its powerband. Should be fairly easy on the valvetrain with its low lift too...Not everybody wants a hard-chopping, car-shaking cam that you have to spin really high to get into its powerband...Or needs an extra 10rwhp that they'll rarely use...I personally want something mild that will work well with my NON track daily-driver like the Hotcam...And it has a cool but surprisingly calm lope through a full exhaust with a good tune IMO...
If you get a good deal on it, go for it!

I still have the stock valve covers over the RR's that came with the kit, no problems.
I'm thinking maybe to skip out on the hotcam. Based on those numbers what do you think a CC305 w/ some ported heads would make? Still emissions legal?
