Default cut-out question

I have a 94 z28 and when i bought it the guy had cut off the flow masters, so the exhaust is cut off about 2 feet after the cat.........

Is this the same as a cutout? Same results?

I love the loud sound.

But im thinking of putting something really quiet on, so when i hussle people telling them its a v6 they will beleive me, then i can just flip the switch

If you put a cut-out 2 feet after the cat it will be the same effect. Maybe a little quieter, not much though I'd imagine.

I guess technically you'll gain some top end power, but when I was getting my exhaust installed, I had it cut off right after the cats and when I drove it to a muffler shop it seemed like it lost a ton of low end power. I didn't really get on it to much though because the drone was horrible.
