Hello all, my son just graduated high school and turned 18 a few months ago. He dying to join the high performance V8 world. We picked up a 1994 formula 5.7 LT1 4 speed auto.

I want to teach him but I need to also learn. It’s not in perfect shape.

I’m and old school small block Holley TH350 guy. Got a 72 nova 383 stroker Im building slowly, but I want him to learn about and have the benefits of injection, overdrive, and lock up. LS cars out of his price range.

I wanted to start with something we noticed in the engine bay in the air filter area. I’ll post picks soon.

can anyone here advise what the electronic box is for behind the left headlight that runs along the path of the air filter ducting (AKA intake)???

if you are looking down at the engine from the front of the car. Good open car facing you, looking at the throttle body, the intake turns to the right into the MAF. Then continues along the radiator and down towards the left headlight. It then goes down and runs through a box with a lot of wires connecting to the harness. The box says GUIDE on it.

could anyone of you guys educate me on wgat that is????

Thank you! I don’t know why I could not figure that out? I just could not make sense of it no matter how much I searched online. It looked like another MAF. I thought intake air flowed through it. That threw me off.

what do you guys do with these modules when using a “cold air” intake? Mount it on the wheel well?

Anyway, thanks for the help. Maybe this will help a new uninformed Fbird owner in the future.
