Default fuel pump??

The tow strap was my friend tonight. lol I had to be pulled home from the track right thru the middle of town, rather embarassing. The car nosed over on the return road and died. I pulled over and started it up, it idled fine but soon as I hit the gas it would die. Eventually it got to where it would idle for about 2 seconds then shut off. Fuel pump gone bad? I'll put a gauge on it in the morning and see if I have any fuel pressure. Do they normally just die or slowly quit working?? I'm wondering if this could be the source of the slight miss I've had for a month or two???

Another thing, why would my fans not turn off?? They ran the whole way home with the key on engine not running. Soon as I turn the key on the fans come on, it's never done that before.

Mine died abruptly.

Just turn your key to see if you can hear the pump prime. Or you can disconnect the line at the filter and have someone turn the key to see if it's priming any fuel.

Most likely she's dead.

I vote dead also but hook a gauge up at the rail and see if you are getting between 43-48

Put a guage on it, it has 42 psi with the key on motor not running. Soon as it tries to start the guage drops to about 20 then quickly falls to 0 and stays there til the motor dies. Soon as it dies the pressure is right back up to 42. Still think it's a fuel pump?

I put some chevron techron fuel injector cleaner in it yestereday and I'm wondering if that has screwed something up.

The fans still come on as soon as I turn the key on, I can't figure that one out but I'm wondering if it's related to the problem.

I still would bet on it but I cant guarantee thats it...However you will need to to put something like a walbro 255 on it someday anyway.. and you might as well now... First though check your pcm grounds it almost sounds as though its going wacky with your fuel press and fans being on all the time make sure theres no wires burnt by your headers or anything

I have a bad ecm. I knew the fans were on for a reason!! I changed the fuel filter, it was almost stopped up, and that let the car idle but I couldnt give it throttle without it dying. I saw that the SES light was on so I hooked up the laptop to get the codes and it wouldn't communicate. Fans on, no communication........Hmmmm I pulled the ecm out to check the connections and the fans turn off. Tapped on the ecm with a screwdriver and the fans came on again. Started the car up, ran like ****, tapped on the ecm and it ran fine. I put the OBD2 ecm back in and I'm back on the road!!
