Default Just ordered clutch.. SI record here i come

I just ordered a SPEC Stage 3 with the lightweight presure plate option and billet steel flywheel. Hopefully it will get here soon. Now I just need someone to put it in. I'm Hoping for some 12.3's in half decent air. Maybe I should invest in a wideband o2 sensor and LT1 edit...Who else is gunning for the record? Remember Stock internals....no aftermarket rockers or springs allowed. Record stands at 12.48@110....Shouldnt be that hard

I've done plenty of lt1/ls1 clutches before if you need someone to install it. I can cut you a fairly good deal also. Where are you located?

That record is soon to be broken! Good luck

Thanks...I live in PA so I think its gonna be pretty hard for you to do the clutch swap. I've put clutches in cars before, but I'd rather let someone else do it as long as they dont rip my ******* out on the price

I got one that is fastly approaching said record....I am going for 8.2s or less in the 1/8th with stock manifolds and rockers/springs...

I have went 8.60 and 8.59 with just !spare/jack, !front sway bar, muffler and CAI, with MADZ28 tune, launching at 5k on stock replacement clutch with MT DRs and skinnies. this was with 1.95ish 60', MPH was lower at about 79/80 but that will soon change.

Those times are low 13s, I know that is a far cry from the 12.5s but I am pulling stuff off the car and putting in the 12 bolt, I got front suspension waiting to go on. i hope to be less than 3400 if not in the 3300 range before I go real nutty on weight reduction!!

Yikes, yeah thats a long haul of a drive. I'm sure theres someone local that can do a great job. If they try to charge more than 250-300 for labor look elsewhere though. I usually charge 150-200 but I do it in my garage. Good luck with the car tho, keep us updated

Putting in a clutch is easy, just get a friend to help you with the tranny and save your cash.

Just drop the Y-pipe, put a jack or something under the rear of the tranny, remove tranny brace, tq arm, driveshaft, and slave cylinder/clutch fork.

Unbolt all the bolts that go from the tranny to the bell housing, then i used a floor jack with a bunch of pieces of wood on it to slide the tranny back, releasing the input shaft from the clutch.

Remove the bell housing and old clutch/flywheel, put in your new goodies, and reassemble.

Note- make sure no one pushes the clutch with the slave disconnected, it will blow all its guts out and you'll need a new one. Dont ask me how i know

Is your car a 6spd? The record that this post is reffering to is the LT1 6SPD Totally stock internal record. Sar2k owns the BOLT ON record. His car is an A4 and he also has springs and rockers. GreenbeanZ28 owns the BOLT on Record for 6spd cars @12.34.
Stock internal 6spd record is 12.48
stock internal Auto record is 12.26

I'm also trying to do it being basically at full weight. My raceweight is 3505 which is no featherweight by all means.

3500 pounds is not full weight, I know, I was there with my 94 and know what has to be removed to get there, not saying it is alot but it is more than pulling out the spare/jack...this weight is achieved with out sacrificing looks for sure, just removing hidden stuff.

SO, when do you run?

I know is not Actual Full weight, thats why i said basically at full weight I just remove the backseat, front passanger seat, floor mats etc. Nothing crazy at all. The car still has the bumper supports, airbags, all stock springs, shocks, k member etc. I also have the 12 bolt that adds weight. I weigh 165 so that helps. My actual curbweight is ~3340.
As soon as i get my clutch in and break it in, I'll be at the track. Probably wont be for a few weeks. I'd like to run in some half decent air too...

Count me in on this record chase. Whats the difference in stock internal and bolt on only?? I assume yer considering rockers bolt on but not stock internal. I just put in a spec stage 2 and will be heading to the track next friday hoping for 8.40's in the 1/8 (previous best of 8.55). I'm overweight too, gotta get that big *** speaker box and amps outa the back end, other than that I will be totally stock weight/interior and internals with no weight reduction done, just yer basic bolt ons. I still got a few more things I can do.
