Stupid Winter!! Track opens May 13th
1) What technique works well for launching?
2) How much warming will the Nitto's need? How easy is this without a line lock?
3) Any estimates on ET,MPH? Stock, with current mods, and after mods in the mail...
4) How necessary is a tune after the LT's? There is a new Mustang dyno coming to town, and I will get on there as soon as it is setup.
5) I am very familiar with tuning (I spent days on end tuning an Electromotive TEC-II on a CBR600F4 for Formula SAE while in school), and the dyno will have a wideband O2 setup. Should I tackle my own tune with Tunercat?
6) Any other pointers for the season? Should I be doing anything else to support my mods?
Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks,
Kevin
2) Need a lot of heating up, like John Force style.
3) Depending on weather, traction etc. I would say around 13.3@102-104mph.
4) A dyno tune can get you great improvements on a completely stock car! GM sends them pig rich from the factory.
5) Might want to look into suspension, or a 12-bolt/9" rearend since it looks like you will have decent traction and an M6. M6+Traction=
rear end
What pressure should I run the Nittos at? Based on the large size, I am guessing 16-18psi, but any experience in this department would be great. I'm thinking that I will probably come close to a dead hook with stock power and those tires, so my clutch will have to suffer the launch, rather than the rear. I don't have $2500 for a 9" at the moment.
I will get out to the track on street tires, and then make the switch to DR's. I think that 2 passes on each should give me a good idea how much performance I have gained. Hopefully 0.5sec off the 60ft time
I'll post actual track times as soon I get some on May 13th!!!
Kevin
