Default LE or AI Setup on Strokers

I know alot of people are using LE1, 2 & 3 as well as Advanced Induction top ends on stock bottom end LT1s and getting 400+ RWHP easily. Anyone running a Lloyd Elliot or Advanced Induction LT4 or larger ported castings on a 383 or 396 setup? I was wondering what kind of numbers were being put up with these setups.

A good friend just had AI do a solid roller setup for his 95Z 383 using Trick Flow heads ported and flowing 310cfms@.600 lift, a 252/262 duration custom grind Comp Cams cam on a 108 LSA, ported LT4 intake, 3/8 pushrods, 7/16 rocker studs and solid lifters. We are gong with the stock PCM for now with a PCM For Less tune " Bryan Herter" with 38lb Delfi injectors. The 383 is using a Eagle forged crank and H beam rods and splayed caps and SRP forged flatop pistons. We are also using a Mosier 12 bolt conversion with 4.10 gears, turbo 350 trans and 4400 stall. When completed will post dyno numbers. We are hoping for high to mid 10's on motor. AI is estimating 500-550 RWHP. We will see. Not crazy about the 108 LSA due to that he does plan a 200-250 shot on NOS.

Hey Jeff~

Lloyd Elliot is porting my stock LT1 castings, and Bret Bauer (SStrokerAce) is working with Lloyd on the solid-roller cam. Going to be a 383, but it won't be n/a.

Lloyd is a GREAT person to deal with -- he's been a huge help to me in this buildup. We've exchanged numerous e-mails, and he always takes the time to answer your questions. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him just from what I've seen so far.

Thanks guys, but I am not interested in a solid roller setup. I am looking for a hydraulic roller cam setup. Sorry if I am being so short, but just got back from a car club meet and the Ls1 is god nutswinging bullshit just made me pissed off and want to

I didn't keep my 383 running for more than 700 miles, but it did run the times in the sig on the shakedown pass. I was planning on hitting 10.90's n/a on the HR cam with that setup which shouldn't have been much of a problem.

Jeff -- I wasn't suggesting that they only put together solid-roller setups. That was just something I changed. Lloyd's packages normally include hydraulic roller cams. Sorry for any confusion~

Justin -- I hate to ask, but what happened after 700 miles? That's horrible -- sorry to hear...

Ive got a set of AFR 210s fully ported by AI.

383/afrs/GM 847/12 bolt

Shakedown pulls were 401rwhp with dead on Air/Fuel. It was pulling 8 degrees of timing. Something else was wrong up top too, it made the 400 at 5500 and then nose dived not revving any more.

Havent really tried to figure out the problems since i bought a new cam for it and its all getting torn apart anyways. New cam is a solid, shooting for high 400s+

You should set a et goal not a peak rwhp goal. Just my opinion though.

Well in a roundabout way I have. My goal is low 11s/high 10s(which will require some serious suspension) with 120s traps. I want a minimum of 450 RWHP for this.

Well, I guess the next step is emailing Lloyd Elliot. Anyone have the address?

i think either will be fine honestly. youll need to talk with each other and see what cams they recommend. i feel that the cam specs chosen will determine which head will work better. i say this because runner volume and velocity should be close between the two and the cam desired has to work with the runner CC and the velocity of the air. again i think either will be fine. personally id like to build a 396 and i will be looking into lloyd porting some LT4 based heads. be it AFRs of GM castings. most likely AFR 210s though for me.

Another vote for Lloyd. He's a super helpful guy. Just E-mail him. He'll set you up with whatever you want. Just let him know what your goals are.

Bret Bauer(which does LE cams now)He could set u up with a whole combo, not just a cam...I just got a HUGE HR cam from him for my 383..It wont have a lope to it, it'll have a chop, heh. If I can stick the tires, I hope for low 11's n/a, but we'll see how everything goes.
