Default WS6 airbox fitment problem

OK here's the deal- i bought a Warbird hood from Roger at US Exotics, whom say that he casts the lower hood structure directly from a Pontiac WS6 hood. So I buy me a factory WS6 CAI for the car. Well long story short- the intake is too tall and the hood won't shut. If I take out the filter it will close, but it is tight! So I put some lithium greaseon the gasket to see how it was lining up underneath, thinking maybe it was too far back or otherwise misaligned...it is dead centered- just too tall.

Well I start wondering if the WS6 had a different radiator cover that let it sit lower....or anyone else have this problem. I need to get this worked out by tomorrow at noon or the ole moroso is going back in.

Any suggestions??

does the hood lay down correctly with the rest of the panels? my thoughts are that the hood latch needs to be raised to correctly latch the hood. i do not believe the radiator cover is any different, but im not positive.

Snow dog- yeah I learned that they all have the same cover- but the hood fits perfectly right now...I have gotten a few replies on other boards where the guys had to remove the rubber gaskt on the factory airbox- i may have to do that too- though I don't want to.

yeah id hate to have to do that, but its not that big of a deal. might try running a thinner foam seal if possible. might make it hard to look good, but it needs to be sealed as best as possible.

That's exactly what I was thinking. This would still give you a seal.
