a4 trans slipping
I ran into the same problem....my auto is completely toast. After doing quite a bit of research I finally decided to go with a T56. Depending on your torque, it can cost more to build up the 4L60E than it costs for a complete swap. The swap is around $1500 but you can find parts for less or a bit more. Around $500 for a clutch that will hold whatever you want to throw at it.
That's $2K and that's about what it costs to build up your auto to hold MAYBE 600-650 torque, the same price and the T56 will hold that and more without batting an eye. And that's not including the price of a torque converter than can range between 300-1000+ depending on the application.
I've looked at everything....a TH400 would be nice but I would want an OD and the GV OD is wayyyyyyy too expensive.
200-4R is a very viable option as well and I was (and still am) swaying between the T56 and the 200....I'm leaning more towards the T56 since my last two Camaro's have been auto's and I think it's time for a stick and manual's do have benefits.
Do some research.....search on CZ28 and you'll find more threads than you'll ever want to read about this subject. It really comes down to personal preference, budget and how much TQ the tranny is going to have to hold.
