Default Knock after cam install

Recently, I installed a cam(custom bret bauer), springs,retainers,etc..I got the motor buttoned back up, except the radiator/fans, and the W/P...Fired it up for a few seconds, and there's this knock noise..So, I adjusted the valves, and tried it again..Still there. Whats goin' on? Slack in the timing chain? Cam bearing? The whole motor(383) has almost 9-10k miles on it..

Well, when i can keep it running, its around 40psi, or better, so that tells me that its not a cam bearing(i think)

do u have a LT4 knock module? also it takes a few seconds for oil to get everywhere after a cam swap. if you double checked eveything, you should be good to go

Default Knock after cam install

I recently installed a BRE custom cam/beehive springs...After intial start-up, I have developed a knock noise coming from my motor, and I dont think there is any oil getting to the top end(lifters pumping up,etc)..I have over 40psi oil pressure on my gauge, my SES light is on, and both of my fans are running...I haven't put any road miles on this setup, due to this noise...Can anybody help me??

Wat codes is it throwing? and I developed a knock after a cam install too. It was a seized rod bearing though Kinda common from higher mileage LT1 cars after a cam only install

That is why I love my 93'. Just bridge the diagnostic and ground terminals and turn the key to the on position. Simple shtuff.

On my car it throws code 15 which is low temperature indicated, and the fans run a lot more than they should so it never heats up to normal temp. I replaced the thermo becaust old one was stuck open and problem came back so I am replacing the coolant temp sensor tomorrow. Could be why your fans are running all the time. But that has really nothing to do with the knock.

I replaced the coolant temp sensor, last year ,and the thermostat is just a few years old(Hypertech 160*)...Nah, I doubt its the rockers, we've adjusted them twice so far..Any ideas why oil isn't getting to the top?? Could it be a cam bearing?

CD-33, from what i hear, big cams will throw this code, at least until its tuned. CD-42 has to do with a short/ground in my ignition control. CD-83 has to do with the TCC control solenoid..Does it mean its going bad? Anybody?
