Default Injector question. Are 42# too much?

Right now i have a 383 setup for my camaro. I am pushing around 420hp at the flywheel. I am looking to get some new injectors because i feel my 24#ers are being maxed out. So I am just wondering if the 42# injector will be too much, over winter I am going to do Lloyd Elliot heads and cam package so I will be pushing more hp soon. 36# injectors and more than 42# so i am wondering if they will be alright for now and then the improvements that are to come? Thanks in advance

I'm maxing out my stock 24 pounders also, so I know your pain.

I talked to Racetronix about going with 32# or 37# injectors and they sugested the 42's for my setup considering a stroker motor in the future. I was kind of worried about going with such a large injector and having low rpm tuning issues, but Racetronix insisted that tuning the 42's at low rpm would not be a problem... and I'll be covered up to 475-500 rwhp, not that I will ever see that with a 383-396. It seems that everyone wants to run injectors that are just enough for their motor, but aviod the 1-size over approach. Just like 75% of the people on these boards I'm fumbling my way through the modding proccess and learning from others along the way. I'm sure someone with more experiance will reply to this thread and enlighten the both of us, but until then all I can offer is what I was told by Racetronix. Hope I helped a little.

By the way... I ended up buying the 42's and I'm now waiting on a TunerCat program for my laptop before I install them.

I am of the mind that I would rather have a larger injector with less on time, then a smaller injector thats working more. I usualy go to the larger size myself.

Nope, 42#'s will be fine, especially, since you spray the car...For N/A use, you can always turn them down a bit.. Im runnin' 42# SVO's on my 383...
