hey whats up guys i am currently working on a friends lt1 right now. i have a question the car has either le1 or le2 heads not for sure and a custom joe overten cam. my question is i am having trouble figuring out why the retainers are so worn looking on the top. on my #7 intake valve the valve and keeper are actually pushed down inside the spring. and the rocker is chewed all up. on each head there are about 3 or 4 rockers that are wearing real bad like this not sure what is happening. wonder if you guys have seen this before. thinking about putting a whole new spring kit on and changing the rockers to 1.5. it has gm 1.6 roller rockers on it now. what springs and rockers do you guys recommend. thanks steve

Sounds to me like the keepers are not seated propely. The out side of the rockers are riding on the retainer. Take a valve spring compressor and push down on the spring till you can reseat the keeper locks. Then just sit one of the rockers on the stud and make sure the needle bearing rest on the tip of the valve.
also make sure that you are running the right rockers.
my old set of crane gold 1.6 did the same thing. I don't think they were the right ones for the Lt1 all though i was told they were. I change to the pro comp mags and haven't had a problem since.
well good luck
thank you for the help i was leaning toward the rockers too. i got to looking closer and this is happening on all my intake valves. so i am wondering if this is cam related. i want to bump it down to a 1.5 maybe that is some of it. any more help would be great.
