Default Internal Balance, flywheel, and Harmonic Balancer?

I am rebuilding my motor to a 355 and I am going to buy a forged eagle crank. Certain places off the internet that you can buy them from say they are internally balanced already and some show you can pay these companies off of the internet that you are buying them from an extra $150 dollars to have them balance it before they ship it to you. Should I trust them to do this or just have a machine shop do this? Also if I have it internally balanced is the flywheel or is it the harmonic balancer that has to be neutral? Or is the harmonic balancer for something else? Also do any of you recommend external over internal balance? Thanks for any help.

only have it internally balanced at a local shop. do not trust what some company over the net tells you. if the engine it balanced internally you will need a neutral flywheel. currently the flywheel is balancing the engine. the "balancer" on the front is already neutral. just be sure to install the hub correctly according to the service manual. more for peace of mind and habit than anything else. internally balanced is the easiest thing to do and is what i recommend. this will allow you to change flywheels without worring about getting it balanced like the old one or the one that the engine was balanced to. this is how i would do it. having the engine balanced period is better than not.
