Default SIGH... damn Roller rockers....

I am in the middle of installing some roller rockers on the LT1,,,, and for some reason one of the rockers keeps falling off!!! I have set zero lash and given it as much as a 1/2 turn past zero lash.... and it still keeps falling off.... any ideas????

Never mind..... just figured it out....... I bought a set of NON self aligning rockers.... so i must use guide plates.... guess i will be selling these.......

i thought NSA were better? how do the guide plates work? if you end up selling these, let me know.

guideplates also = requires machine work, NSA are better because it controlls the pushrod better at HIGH rpms, more valve train stability, self aligning is just a simpler but less effective way to do the same. I would get SA if I were you to avoid pulling the heads. also I dont know if ALL guideplates require machine work, but the GMPP ones I bought from thunderracing required a flat space to be milled where they sit.

I didnt have to machine head at all do use guideplates with pro mag rockers .....Why did it have to be machined?

Yeah, no machining is required. You must remove the studs, but it would be wise to upgrade to a 7/16 stud anyways! Guidplates arent expensive, i would just buy them and have the better rockers!

No machining required here, running GM guideplates ( GM p/n: 14011051 ) with comp hardend pushrods (a must) and comp pro mag 1.6 RR's

and only use GM GUIDEPLATES or you will have problems

I used the GMPP guide plates, and they wouldnt sit level on my heads! the edges hit the casting.......wierd lol If I had pics I would post.
